TOP FIVE ADVENTURES
I wasn't really sure how to start this blog off but I thought that giving an overview of some of my past adventures would be a good start. What better way to do that than to create a top five list of my personal favorite adventures so far. I plan on going into these trips into more depth in future blog posts, but for now here is an overview of some of my favorite trips.
5. Aspen Fall Colors Trip
Fall is my favorite time of the year to photograph. Me and my girlfriend, Katie went on a short road trip to Aspen, Colorado to photograph the fall colors. One of the highlights of this trip was going to one of my favorite places, the iconic Maroon Bells. Even though there were hundreds of other photographers there that morning, it was still a magical morning photographing the beautiful fall colors and huge peaks with a dusting of snow. We also visited some iconic Colorado locations like the Crystal Mill (which was stunning surrounded by fall colors) and Hanging Lake. It was an amazing weekend surrounded by amazing views and amazing company.
4. Moab Weekend Road Trip
Me and my girlfriend, Katie needed a break from school and work so we headed out to Moab, Utah for the long three day weekend. This wasn't the first time we had gone to Moab for the weekend, as we went there at about the same time last year. Moab is one of my favorite places and I would love to go there every year if I could. I love the town of Moab and the beautiful landscapes that surround it. The rock formations of Arches and the vast canyons of Canyonlands National Park provide amazing views and opportunities for photos. Some of the sunrises and sunsets that weekend were duds, including one of the locations I wanted to photograph for sunrise being closed, but what I love most about the Moab area is the night sky and astrophotography. Relaxing and photographing the Milky Way between the stunning Corona Arch on what felt like a warm summer night was one of the best nights of photography I've ever had.
3. San Juan Fall Colors Trip
In terms of strictly photography, this might have been my best trip. This trip resulted in so many images that i'm really proud of. I got really lucky with some colorful skies and even some fog. Couple that with beautiful fall colors in one of the best places for fall colors, the San Juan Mountains. What makes this trip not number one is that it was a solo trip and I had no friends or my girlfriend there to share the memories with. Don't get me wrong, I love solo trips and I loved this trip so much, but it is always nice to have someone you can share experiences with. Nonetheless it was an amazing trip filled with so many great memories.
2. Yosemite road trip
The biggest road trip I've ever been on in my life comes in as my second favorite adventure. Last year me and my girlfriend, Katie went on a ten day road trip from Colorado to California. We visited so many amazing locations such as Lake Tahoe, Point Reyes National Seashore, The Golden Gate Bride, Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, Las Vegas, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. The diversity of locations and landscapes we saw was stunning, including places such as mountain lakes, beaches, beautiful huge cities, the amazing valley views and waterfalls of Yosemite, THE BIGGEST TREE IN THE WORLD, and so much more. We packed a lot into ten days and the time flew by but we created so many memories that will last a life time.
1. Yellowstone and Grand Teton Trip
Finally number one! My favorite adventure that I've been on so far was when me and my girlfriend road-triped to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. At the time it was the biggest and longest trip I had ever been on, and the first major trip with my girlfriend so it was pretty significant. This trip was filled with so many amazing memories such as being in our car surrounded by a herd of buffalo with the stunning Teton Mountain Range in the back. It was the first night of the trip and really set the trip off to a good start.
